Fornite meets Avengers: Infinity War for Thanos theme mode
Epic Games and Marvel Entertainment have announced a very exciting collaboration with a brand-new game mode for fan-favorite video game Fortnite. Starting tomorrow, the battle royale game will get a new upgrade featuring none other than The Mad Titan himself, Thanos, from Avengers: Infinity War.
EW reports that the “Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup” mode for Battle Royale will start out like any other mode in Fortnite, featuring one hundred players flying down toward the likes of Tilted Towers or Tomato Town and preparing to duke it out until one player remains. There will be one major difference though: The Infinity Gauntlet will be an item that can be found on the map. The gauntlet will already include the six Infinity Stones, so you won’t need to hunt for those too, but any player who wields the gauntlet will transform into Thanos and hold the power of the stones.
The outlet notes that Infinity War directors Anthony and Joe Russo reached out to Epic Games about creating the mode, themselves being fans of the game.
“It was really important that whatever we did, it had to be super authentic to both Fortnite and the Avengers: Infinity War, and something that fans of both would be excited about,” Donald Mustard worldwide creative director of Epic Games tells EW. “About an hour later, we had the bones of this awesome idea for a limited time gameplay mode, and almost immediately our team got started.”
The Infinity Gauntlet mode will be available for free on Fortnite beginning tomorrow across all platforms (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and iOS). Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode is also free to play.
