Star Wars Multiplayer Game Shutting Down Later This Year

In less than a year after its launch, Zynga announced its free-to-play arena shooter Star Wars: Hunters will shut down in several months. Players can enjoy the rest of Season 5 until the sun sets on Vespaara.

When does Star Wars: Hunters shut down?

This news comes from an announcement made on the Star Wars: Hunters official website. Players will have until October 1 to play the game. The developer is extending Season 5 by three weeks, allowing players to play through some of the events, grab some of the seasonal shop bundles, and possibly reach Kyber 1 in Ranked Season.

“Thank you for your incredible support and for being part of the world of Vespaara,” reads the statement. “After careful consideration, we want to let you know that the final content update for Star Wars: Hunters on all platforms will be on April 15th. The game will remain playable until October 1st, 2025, when the game’s online servers will be shut down.”

“We understand this news may be disappointing and want to assure you that this decision was not made lightly,” continues the statement. “Your passion and dedication to the game and its community have meant the world to us, and we are committed to providing visibility and updates throughout the transition process.”

There will be a final content update on April 15 for free, and introduce the new support hunter Tuya at no additional cost. Additionally, in-game purchases will be disabled at this point.

When Star Wars: Hunters launched last year, it was met with very mixed reviews. According to review aggregate site Metacritic, it received an average score of 57 across 10 critic reviews.

Players who want to pour one out for Star Wars: Hunters can do so until it inevitably closes its doors now. It is available on PC, Mobile, and Nintendo Switch.
