These reports also teased the Switch 2’s planned release date, and considering that Mario Kart 9 seems positioned to be a launch game for the system, its release date window could be sooner rather than later.

Mario Kart 9 could be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 in June 2025, according to previous reports that the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal have corroborated.
Nate the Hate stated in a YouTube video that the Switch 2 would be revealed on January 16, which has been proven accurate. He also said that Nintendo was aiming for a May or June 2025 release date for the console.
Nintendo has since released details of a global tour for the console, which will see hands-on demos taking place in multiple countries. Currently, the tour dates conclude in Asia in June, suggesting that the console could be released in the same month.
If this is true, Mario Kart 9 would likely be released in the same month. It appearing as the only game showcased during the Switch 2’s reveal suggests that it will be a launch game, so both the game and the console could launch alongside each other in June.
A Nintendo Switch 2 Nintendo Direct is set to place on April 2, 2025, so we should hear much more about the console and Mario Kart 9 in the upcoming presentation.
