Big Fan Games, Bithell Games, and Disney announced Disney Tron: Catalyst, a brand new story-driven isometric action game based on the famous film franchise. It is slated to launch in 2025 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
Bithell Games is developing Disney Tron: Catalyst
Disney Tron: Catalyst is a sequel to Bithell Games’ Tron: Identity. However, unlike their previous foray in the Grid, this new release will have some real time action combat. Players will control Exo, a program with the ability to initiate time loops, as they uncover the mysteries of a Glitch threatening the Arq Grid. It also features new art, and original music from the sci-fi franchise.
“In Disney TRON: Catalyst, players are introduced to Exo, a highly resilient and resourceful program with an incredible ability to initiate time loops,” reads the game’s synopsis. “With this newfound power, Exo takes on the overlords of a crumbling Grid all while evading Conn, a malevolent agent of CORE. Exo must gain control over her mysterious abilities and uncover the unexplained ‘Glitch’ that threatens the Grid.”
“As Exo, players will battle on-foot and on Light Cycle to complete missions and gain crucial insights that will help them on their quest. While learning from her mistakes, Exo will also need to navigate warring factions to unlock new paths and uncover the secrets of the Arq Grid.”
Bithell Games is an indie studio known for its narrative-driven video games, including Thomas Was Alone and Subsurface Circular. They’ve brought iconic film franchises to the gaming world in the form of John Wick Hex and Tron: Identity. They’ve also produced a radio drama miniseries called North Star Rising.
In other Tron news, production on the upcoming Jared Leto-led movie Tron: Ares has wrapped. Jeff Bridges confirmed he will reprise his role as Kevin Flynn.
