The latest character addition for Marvel Rivals will surely excite X-Men fans. NetEase Games and Marvel Games announced Psylocke is coming to the hero shooter when it launches later this year.
Psylocke is the newest addition to Marvel Rivals
The newest Marvel Rivals trailer gives players a peek at Psylocke’s duelist move set. Utilizing her psionic powers, she can dash short distances and cloak herself, making her invisible to her enemies until she strikes. Her ultimate ability combines her super-powered agility with her fighting ability as she dashes at each enemy, dealing major damage with her odachi. The video description also says she can use crossbows and shurikens, but that is not showcased in the trailer.
Marvel Rivals’ Psylocke is inspired by the best-selling comic Demon Days: X-Men. The comic artist Peach Momoko worked with the game’s artists to create the character’s new design. Additionally, Japanese voice actor Alpha Takahashi will voice the psionic assassin. Takahashi has voiced games like Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield, and Ghost of Tsushima.
“A wandering ronin in feudal Japan, the telekinetic warrior known as Sai has devoted herself to striking down ancient demons and monsters. With her wolf Logan by her side, Psylocke won’t rest until all Yokai have fallen by her psychic blade,” reads the official description of the character’s back story. “Sai was ripped from her reality by the Timestream Entanglement and put on display by the Collector. Alongside newfound allies, she escaped her cage and learned that other familiar warriors might still be out there. Her new quest is to gather those heroes, end this conflict, and return home.”
Psylocke is just one of 26 heroes and villains in Marvel Rivals’ playable roster. Last month, NetEase Games and Marvel Games revealed both Captain America and Winter Soldier will be available to play at launch. Other fan-favorite characters include Spider-Man, Magneto, Iron Man, and Loki.
The free-to-play hero shooter Marvel Rivals launches December 6, 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
