Since Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 launched back in 2020, fans have been clamoring for a follow up to the critically acclaimed reimagining. Despite reports of THPS 3 and 4 remakes being scrapped, it seems the Birdman is not done partnering with Activision.
Tony Hawk has been talking with Activision about a new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game
In a new episode of Mythical Kitchen’s Last Meal, skateboarding legend Tony Hawk and host Josh Scherer eat their way through various topics pertaining to the Birdman’s life. From his podcast with fellow pro skater Jason Ellis, to breaking his femur, the two reminisce about his career, as well as look forward to the future. This future includes Activision and a new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game, as Scherer asks what is next for the franchise.
“I wish I could tell you more, but I can tell you that I have been talking to Activision again which is insanely exciting,” says Hawk. “We’re working on something… But I think it will be something the fans will truly appreciate.”
Scherer asks if Hawk could give any details about what this new game could be, but had to decline. However, it is confirmed that the game will not feature contact lenses that gives players the ability to skate.
On the surface, it makes sense a new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game is in the works. However, with a recent report detailing the cancellation of a THPS 3+4 remake, it seemed unlikely news for a new entry would be so soon.
Despite those reports, fan theories began to spark when the official Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Twitter account refreshed its social media graphics to coincide with the franchise’s 25th anniversary. Since this writing, nothing has been announced on the account since the change.
The original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater launched on August 31, 1999, so any hope for an announcement alongside the actual anniversary is long gone. However, THPS 3 and 4 launched on October 28, 2001, and October 23, 2002, respectively, so maybe there is still hope.
