Following yesterday’s teaser from publisher Boss Team Games, developer WayForward Technologies has announced the first two games in a brand-new series — RetroRealms: Halloween and RetroRealms: Ash vs Evil Dead. The two games will be available separately digitally or as a physical double-feature bundle.
The RetroRealms: Halloween and Ash vs Evil Dead release date
RetroRealms: Halloween and RetroRealms: Ash vs Evil Dead will be released on October 18, 2024. Both games will be available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
Both games are 16-bit-style platformers with a fast-paced 90’s arcade style. Halloween puts players in control of Michael Myers and other characters from the original 1978 film in a bid to overcome the ultimate evil that has taken over the world. Meanwhile, Ash vs Evil Dead pits Ash Williams against Deadites and other familiar characters from the STARZ original series. Both games feature a variety of familiar locations taken from their source material.
The two games connect with each other to unlock extra gameplay features, such as transferring characters from one game into the other. A 3D RetroRealms Arcade gateway will also provide a way to access both these games and all upcoming games in the series, as well as give a way to redeem in-game tickets, view leaderboards, and find “other exclusive content.”
The games will cost $24.99 individually or in the physical Double Feature bundle for $49.99. The Double Feature also comes in a Special Edition ($79.99) that includes a copy of each game and the following goodies:
- Halloween VHS Style Box
- Eight-inch Michael Myers plush figure
- A pack of eight official RetroRealms trading cards
- RetroRealms: Halloween 11″x17″ poster
- Playable Laurie Strode DLC character from Halloween
- Playable Kelly Maxwell DLC character from Ash vs Evil Dead
Pre-orders are available now. Those who pre-order Halloween will get the bonus Laurie Strode DLC character, while those who pre-order Ash vs Evil Dead will get the Kelly Maxwell DLC character. Each comes with its own weapons, story, and playstyle.
