Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Joins GBA Nintendo Switch Online Games Next Week

2006’s Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team is officially heading to Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance – Nintendo Switch Online Library, allowing fans to play the classic roguelike Pokémon adventure.

When does Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team come out?

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team is set to release on August 9, 2024, when it will be available for all players with the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription.

Originally released in 2006, Red Rescue Team was the Game Boy Advance version of the first ever Pokémon Mystery Dungeon title. A Nintendo DS version of the game, titled Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team, was released alongside the GBA version of the game.

The Pokémon Mystery Dungeon titles feature roguelike gameplay that revolves around randomly changing dungeons that players explore. The story of the game follows someone who has been turned into a Pokémon and later joins a rescue team with other Pokémon to find out what happened to them and how to fix things.

The game was a hit upon its release, selling over 5 million copies lifetime and earning two sequels, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness. In 2020, an updated remake of the original game was released for the Nintendo Switch, titled Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX.
