Frontier Developments has announced Planet Coaster 2 and players will be pleased to find the ultimate coaster experience now includes water parks. The release date window for the sequel to the 2016 construction and management simulation game Planet Coaster has been set for fall 2024 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The new Planet Coaster 2 water park attractions
The new water park attractions will include sprawling pools, lazy rivers, flumes, water slides, wave pools, and water coasters. Of course, no water park would be complete without inflatable toys, changing rooms, sunbeds, and even mascots. The inclusion of lifeguards also means the likelihood of being able to trap park patrons in a swimming pool without a ladder is relatively slim.
The new features can be used to create a standalone water park or an area that is part of a larger theme park complete with traditional coasters and rides. The traditional park builder now gets more rides, more management options, and more customization tools too. There’s an enhanced track builder that allows for set pieces to be added directly to rides, and a new path system that can create sprawling plazas.
Players can test their mettle in three different game modes. Career mode will offer a variety of scenarios to conquer, while Franchise mode will see players build a global park network as they fight for a place on the leaderboard. A more relaxing experience is available in Sandbox mode, where the sole purpose is to design the park of your dreams without any parameters.
There will also be multiplayer options to team up with friends and family. Players can visit other theme parks to test out rides. Blueprints of custom objects from small decorations to full rollercoasters can be shared and downloaded via the Frontier Workshop, as can full amusement parks. Finally, shared Sandbox levels can be built together, although it seems like players will only be able to access these levels one-at-a-time.
