Mario & Luigi Brothership Release Date

Mario & Luigi: Brothership Release Date Announced in New Trailer

Nintendo has announced a new Mario & Luigi game during today’s Nintendo Direct. Mario & Luigi: Brothership was revealed during a trailer that kicked off the show, and it even came with a release date for Nintendo Switch. It is new game is the first entry in the franchise for nearly nine years.

When is the Mario & Luigi: Brothership release date?

Mario & Luigi: Brothership will be released on November 7, 2024, exclusively for Nintendo Switch. The game is likely to be Nintendo’s big title for the holiday season.

The trailer begins with Luigi having a minor disagreement with a swarm of bees. By “minor disagreement,” I mean he’s frantically running around in circles until the swarm chases him off the edge of a cliff. He’s saved by his plumber brother Mario, and the incident triggers a magical vortex that pulls both brothers into a new island-hopping adventure around the vast world of Concordia. They’ll do this by traveling on Shipshape Island, which is part ship, part island.

Like previous Mario & Luigi games, players seemingly control both brothers simultaneously. The duo takes down enemies with Bros. Attacks in turn-based combat. They can also reach otherwise inaccessible places with Bros. Moves across environments as diverse as tropical rainforests and bustling cities. They also team up with new friends, like a character called Connie, as they attempt to find their way back home, but Bowser and the Extension Corps have other ideas. Princess Peach will also be making an appearance.

“All aboard for an island-hopping RPG adventure starring Mario and Luigi! The brothers are back for a brand-new entry in the Mario & Luigi series, where they set sail on Shipshape Island (part ship, part island) to navigate the vast world of Concordia,” says the official description. “Play as the mustachioed pair and explore islands that range from tropical rainforests to bustling cities. Along the way, meet new friends to help you on your journey and encounter familiar faces from the Mushroom Kingdom, like Peach and Bowser. Keep the “Brothership” afloat and rely on Mario and Luigi’s bond to save the day by employing Bros. Moves to get past obstacles and powerful Bros. Attacks to claim victory in a dynamic twist on turn-based combat.”

The game is the first mainline Mario & Luigi game since the release of Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam in 2015. Earlier games in the franchise were then remastered for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS but sold poorly. Future handheld titles were canceled, and developer AlphaDream declared bankruptcy. It’s unclear who will be developing the new game.
