IllFonic, developer of the four vs. one asymmetrical multiplayer game Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, unveiled the game’s 2024 roadmap. The planned updates include new content based on Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which hit theatres last week.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed getting new content based on Frozen Empire and other films
Spirits Unleashed players can now team up to take down Frozen Empire’s antagonist Garraka, master of the Death Chill. Alternatively, they can play as Garraka and attempt to plunge the world into a new ice age. Players can also unlock new Suits, Proton Packs, and other Ghostbusters gear inspired by the new movie.
Meanwhile, this summer marks Ghostbuster’s 40th anniversary, and Spirits Unleashed is celebrating with three alternate Slimer skins. Players can get messy with Frozen Empire Slimer, RGB Slimer, and Classic Slimer.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed fall update will bring players to SCY County Courthouse to deal with a pair of troublesome ghosts. The free DLC adds a new Bounty, new Gear Skins, “two big rewards,” and more new cosmetics. Finally, Winter will reveal a new fan-favorite ghost and more Gear Shells and Cosmetics. The developers didn’t indicate which ghost is on the way, though it’s apparently one that fans have been asking for.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed currently features 28 playable ghosts, all but two of which, Slimer and Muncher, are original to the game. Frozen Empire’s Garraka will be the third and the first example of a film’s primary antagonist appearing in the game. Meanwhile, fall’s update seems to be teasing the arrival of the Scoleri Brothers from Ghostbusters 2. It’s unclear who 2024’s final ghost might be, though Vigo or a miniaturized Stay Puft Man could be possibilities.
