Legion of Super-Heroes star Harry Shum Jr. spoke to ComingSoon ahead of the film’s release and discussed his time in the Mortal Kombat franchise.
Back in 2013, Shum Jr. played Kuai Liang — the second Sub-Zero in the series’ lore — in the Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series. When asked about whether he’d be open to returning to the Mortal Kombat franchise in some form, the actor responded with enthusiasm.
“I’m game for anything that says ‘get over here!’ That was just cool, man,” Shum Jr. said. “I grew up playing Mortal Kombat — I’m playing Mortal Kombat 11 right now — and it’s these relationships that, as much as we don’t think of Mortal Kombat as relationships, that’s all it is, man. It’s their relationship as a team and banding together to dismantle each other in different ways. I think there’s so much that it’s left to explore in that franchise.”
Mortal Kombat: Legacy was a live-action web series that was distributed by the now-defunct YouTube network Machinima. It featured various storylines and characters from the Mortal Kombat game series and ran for two seasons. Though a third season was planned for release in 2016, it never came out.
