The PlayStation Plus August 2022 catalog for Extra and Premium subscribers was partially revealed when Sony revealed the Essential tier of games. Now, the company has gone and shown the full slate coming on August 16.
Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are the three Yakuza games that will be on the both Extra and Premium. Yakuza 0 was a well-received prequel to the series and widely regarded as the first one to play for newcomers. Kiwami and Kiwami 2 are remakes of the first two Yakuza games and have new visuals and features. The other Yakuza games will make their way to the various tiers later in the year.

Bugsnax, Dead by Daylight, Ghost Recon Wildlands, and Metro Exodus are the other highlights, even though the first two were previously on other tiers of the service. Bugsnax is an adventure title that blends aspects of Pokémon and Ape Escape and was renowned for its characters and inventive world. It also got a big free content update that added a whole new island. Dead by Daylight is a four-on-one asymmetrical online horror game that has been trucking along since its launch in 2016.
Ghost Recon Wildlands did not review particularly well, but is another checklist-driven open-world game from Ubisoft that focuses on co-op. Metro Exodus, however, was beloved for its bigger world, which let players explore the harsh, bombed-out environments of the Metro series in less linear ways while still retaining the tension in the more guided entries.

Strangely, as pointed out by many angry players in the comments on the PlayStation Blog post, this update contained no information on upcoming PS1, PS2, PS3, or PSP games. PlayStation Plus Premium differentiates itself from the other tiers with its selection of classic titles, which Sony has not provided many of since launch. Sony has previously added these classic titles later than normal — Super Stardust Portable released just after the bulk of titles in North America — but it remains to be seen if that is the case here or if the company is truly skipping them for August.
