A few weeks after announcing the Essential lineup, Sony has revealed what games will be gracing PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium in July 2022. While it features no PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, or PlayStation 3 games, the list contains a whole bunch of Assassin’s Creed installments, Marvel’s Avengers, brand-new platformer Stray, and more. They will be available starting on July 19.
Sony ran down the list on the PlayStation Blog, which was mostly leaked beforehand. Stray, Annapurna Interactive’s cat-focused platformer, was already confirmed to be coming, but it’s still arguably the biggest title since it is launching day one on the service.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is also coming to PlayStation Plus Extra. This PS5 game is not only an upgrade to the original PS4 remake (which will also be on Extra), as it also comes with the downloadable chapter starring Yuffie.
Marvel’s Avengers marks yet another Marvel game on the new and improved PlayStation Plus, as it sits alongside Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man titles and Square Enix’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The title just saw its newest free hero, Mighty Thor, too.
Those who want to catch up on Assassin’s Creed will have plenty of entries to try out in this month’s offerings. July will bring six full entries and one expansion. Three of these games will be in Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection, which has remastered versions of Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed Revelations. It’ll also launch alongside Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, its expansion Freedom Cry, Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered, and Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Many likely missed Rogue as it originally came out on the PS3 when on the same day Unity launched on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, which overshadowed Rogue not only because of it was on newer systems, but also because it was infamously buggy. This is also coming just before the series’ 15th anniversary celebration in September that will discuss the future of the franchise. It’s possible this is when Ubisoft will announce Rift, which is the reportedly the codename of the next entry.

Sony also briefly spoke to what PlayStation Plus Premium members will get. And it only briefly mentioned the games because there are just two of them. The PlayStation Plus Premium July 2022 lineup is:
- No Heroes Allowed! | PSP
- LocoRoco Midnight Carnival | PSP
The small classics lineup was not lost on commenters in the aforementioned PlayStation Blog post, especially since neither were particularly revered PSP games. The lack of PS1, PS2, or PS3 additions in just its second month is quite peculiar and many voiced their concerns in the comments section. It did originally look a little more peculiar since it appeared as though those in Italy would be getting access to PS1 horror game Dino Crisis and PSP games Ridge Racer 2 and Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny. However, the post was updated and those games were removed in the process. PSP shooter Resistance: Retribution was also recently rated, meaning it will likely show up on PlayStation Plus in some month in the future, but July is not that month.
