Kingdom Hearts IV was unexpectedly announced over the weekend. The reveal trailer didn’t contain any explicit Disney crossovers aside from Donald Duck and Goofy’s appearance at the end. However, some are claiming that early parts of the video teased one of Disney’s newest franchises: Star Wars.
Around four minutes and 31 seconds into the anniversary announcement, the trailer shows a forested area. While innocuous at first, some have pointed out that a portion of the top right part of the frame doesn’t look like a rock or tree. Instead, they claim it is an AT-ST’s foot on the Forest Moon of Endor around or during the events in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.
The above render from Star Wars Battlefront II does share similarities between the object in the trailer, mainly the curved ovular half dome and the straight lines running down it. However, there has been no other indication that Star Wars is appearing in Kingdom Hearts IV.

Star Wars and Kingdom Hearts have technically crossed paths before, but not in a released game. A canceled Kingdom Hearts mobile title called Kingdom Hearts: Fragmented Keys had concept art of Star Wars characters like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and Emperor Palpatine. The full gallery shows even more familiar Star Wars environments and characters.
A Star Wars crossover would mark a big departure for Kingdom Hearts as it has traditionally featured Disney and Pixar properties made in-house and not properties Disney has recently acquired like Marvel and Star Wars. Kingdom Hearts has crossed paths with Tron and Pirates of the Caribbean, which were its first steps into the live-action Disney films and were also unexpected at the time.
