Yacht Club Games had a special spot in G4’s Xplay stream and highlighted changes and updates coming to its slate of games. However, the Shovel Knight team also announced its new title, which is called Mina the Hollower. No date or platforms were listed.
Mina the Hollower is attempting to evoke the 8-bit aesthetic from the Game Boy Color era, but through a modernized lens. Yacht Club Games claims it will have smooth combat that runs at 60 frames per second, the ability whip foes and burrow into the ground, and a mysterious, horror-filled world that is inspired by Castlevania, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, and Bloodborne. But Director Alec Faulkner stated that the world would be a “harrowing yet heartwarming tale.”
While Yacht Club Games has seen success after its first Kickstarter campaign for Shovel Knight, the company is returning to the platform for Mina the Hollower with a $311,503 goal. Faulkner said the team wanted feedback and support to make Mina the “best game it could possibly be.” Yacht Club is also “financing a majority” of the game itself, but it hopes to make a more expansive game with Kickstarter and build a community around the platform.

Yacht Club also spoke about changes coming to Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon. Quality-of-life updates, more accessibility options, and better PC mod support are among some of the incoming additions. The Random Knight is one of the bigger changes as, once chosen, will randomly turn into another character once the journey begins. This patch will be out “soon.” There will also be three DLC packs and a matchmaking system so players can go against one another as well as new playable characters, bosses, secrets, items, and more.
The stream also held an update on Shovel Knight Dig. Pixel Artist and Animator Sandy Gordon spoke more about the game’s general systems, some of its villains, and a few of it stages and enemies. He didn’t share a release date, but said it was in the final stages of development.
