Kirby and the Forgotten Land Gets Release Date

After announcing the game last year, Nintendo has confirmed the release date for Kirby and the Forgotten Land, with the game set to come out on March 25, 2022 for the Nintendo Switch.

The 3D platformer also got a new gameplay trailer, showcasing some of the many environments you’ll get to explore, as well as some of the abilities Kirby can use, including what looks to be a cap that gives players powers similar to that of Link from The Legend of Zelda series.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is officially available for pre-order now, and will also support co-op play when it launches in a few months. In its co-op mode (which you can see a bit of in the video above), players can help out their friends by playing as the spear-wielding Bandana Waddle Dee.

Not too much is known about the latest entry in the Kirby series, but it’s more open than the other entries that are typically played on a 2D plane. Nintendo has also described the story as having players discovering “a mysterious world with abandoned structures from a past civilization.” Footage from the game seems to hint at Kirby exploring areas like a shopping mall, parks, and much more, so perhaps the game is set in the far future with Kirby exploring past structures built by other beings.
