Halo Infinite Update Adds Slayer Playlist, Changes Challenges

Halo Infinite Update Adds Slayer Playlist, Changes Some Challenges

Halo Infinite was the final big release of the year and while generally well received, its free-to-play multiplayer did leave room for improvement. 343 Industries has slowly been changing the experience and addressing feedback, which is what its most recent update is aiming to do. The newest patch for the game contains the highly requested Slayer playlist, remixes some of the challenges, and more.

343 gave a detailed and insightful peek into the update on Halo Waypoint. The studio stated that it took a “measured” approach to playlists for the beta launch, but understood that players wanted more variety. That variety was mainly centered around the desire for a pure Slayer playlist for those who just wanted team deathmatch or free-for-all deathmatch. The demand for this playlist pushed it up in the priority queue as it was initially planned for “a bit further out.” 343 said this playlist will “expand with new experiences” in the coming months and that there will be generally more variety in the modes, but did not detail exactly what those changes would be. The new playlists are:

  • Team Slayer
  • Free-for-All
  • Tactical Slayer (“SWAT”)
  • Fiesta

Halo Infinite‘s challenges have also been a sore spot, as many players aren’t particular fans of the game’s current progression system. 343 has committed to tweaking them and this update also contains further tweaks. The studio has removed, lowered the requirements of, or reduced the weight of some activity-specific challenges. Activity-specific challenges were annoying to some as some called for modes that weren’t always available. The weight of the general challenges has also been increased. There are also new challenges to coincide with the new playlists and event challenges have also been adjusted so that they will come in more frequently for those who play more often. There will still be a finite number of them but there more of them.

343 stated that it is committed to improving the experience and said there is still “a lot of work to do here.” Changes to the game at large will take more time so don’t expect these more intense, sweeping changes to come overnight. However, these updates should tide some players over in the meantime.
