Guardians of the Galaxy was quite a stunning game on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but they did lack at least one big, noticeable feature from the PC version: ray tracing. Eidos-Montréal said it was coming in a later patch and now that patch is finally here. The Guardians of the Galaxy 1.05 update patch notes not only add ray tracing to the PS5 and Xbox Series X (but not the Series S), but it fixes a few bugs as well. A PC patch is tentatively scheduled for November 19.

As stated on the game’s subreddit, ray tracing was the biggest feature and can be found in the video settings. The update also hit the PS4 and Xbox One and had more general changes. For example, the game now has a save rollback feature, meaning users who have run into “blocking issues” can jump to the start of a chapter. There is a link with more instructions, but it is currently blank so a more detailed description of this feature is currently unavailable. The update also fixes a ton of bugs across all platforms, including a couple of the bugged trophies and achievements.
But, more specifically, the PS4 version will now have better performance. The sensitivity of the Visor input has been dialed up, which was specifically aimed at those who have more worn controllers. After all, the PS4 is eight years old so this is a thoughtful feature. There are no specific Xbox One additions, but the Xbox Series S now has an uncapped frame rate option. This will give the game an inconsistent frame rate between 30 and 60 frames per second and is more geared towards those with a VRR display.

It’s possible that the game will get more patches in the future, but just don’t expect any DLC or giant, content-rich updates.
