Dragon Ball is known for its fighting games and RPGs, but now it’s getting into asymmetrical multiplayer game territory with Dragon Ball: The Breakers. This upcoming online title is coming out on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2022. A closed beta is “coming soon” to PC.

The announcement trailer debuts both in-game footage and a cinematic meant to convey the tone. Seven human players have to escape an overpowered stalking figure, dubbed the “Raider,” in this asymmetrical multiplayer game. The humans have to hide and transform in order to evade the Raider as well as operate machinery (like rocket ships) to their advantage. The Raider, on the other hand, is an overpowered being and players can choose between Frieza, Cell, or Buu. The trailer showed Cell using large area-of-effect laser attacks in addition to grabbing characters once he got close to them. Cell, in his Imperfect Cell form, also consumed one through his tail and transformed into Second Form Cell. Perfect Cell makes an appearance at the end of the trailer. It’s likely that all three Raiders can transform.
This is further hinted at in its synopsis that explains that seven regular people are stuck in the Temporal Seam and must find the Super Time Machine as the Raider gets “stronger by the minute.” Survivors and Raiders can also choose their own progression paths to unlock more perks and cosmetics.

Given the style of game, it seems reminiscent of titles like Friday the 13th or Dead by Daylight that see a giant menacing figure stalk a group of weaker humans.
