Xbox Adds Over 70 New Games to its Backward Compatibility List

Microsoft held its Xbox 20th anniversary celebration on Monday, and as part of it, the company announced a whopping 76 new games that will officially be coming to the latest Xbox consoles, rounding out a project that started in 2015. Many titles also now support FPS Boost, which doubles their frame rate on newer harder.

Every original Xbox or Xbox 360 game that got added today will support functions like Auto HDR on the Xbox Series X|S, and will even see a resolution increase and faster load times as well. FPS Boost is also being enabled on several of the titles today, which includes the whole Gears of War franchise, Nier, Mirror’s EdgeAssassin’s Creed, DarksidersFallout: New Vegas, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Dragon Age: Origins, Dead Space 2, and more. This was an unexpected move for Microsoft as it said in 2019 that it had “no plans to add additional Original Xbox or Xbox 360 titles to the catalog on Xbox One.” But with the 20th Anniversary of Xbox arriving, it appears as though the company decided to surprise fans and add many more games to its backwards compatibility catalog.
