After admitting that the game might not come out this year and later reporting that also suggested it wouldn’t hit 2021, Horizon Forbidden West has officially been pushed into 2022. The newly revealed Horizon Forbidden West release date is February 18, 2022 for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Pre-orders will open up on September 2.
Game Director Mathijs De Jonge revealed this delay at Gamescom. He candidly stated that this was for the health of the team and that they were “hugely impacted by the global pandemic.” De Jonge did not show any new Forbidden West gameplay, though. Guerrilla did, however, show 14 minutes of gameplay footage back in May.

Horizon Zero Dawn also got some love, too. The 2017 open-world title is receiving an update that will allow PS5 players to play the PS4 game at 60 frames per second with 4K checkerboarding through backwards compatibility. The enhanced performance update is live right now. Players have been asking for such a patch as other first-party PS4 games like God of War, Days Gone, and Ghost of Tsushima were all updated to run better on the PS5.
