Sony previously revealed the PlayStation 5 will have not one, but two console options at launch, one of which will include an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive, following in the footsteps of competitor Microsoft’s Xbox One X and S models, while the other will be a Digital Edition without a disc drive at all. The gameplay experience on both consoles will be the same, leaving the choice to players as the world of digital gaming has become more popular in the past few years.
The new console features a white, conch-shell-like design with a black segment inside and though the video and gallery images below show the console standing up, Sony has confirmed that players will be able to lay it horizontally on whichever surface they typically set up other consoles.
In addition to the two consoles, Sony has previously revealed detailed full looks at the PS5’s controller, the DualSense, which is based on the previous consoles’ DualShock controllers but features modifications influenced by discussions with game designers and players alike to allow for more efficient gameplay and a higher-rated batter. Similar to its console, the DualSense features a two-tone coloring of white and black facing with monochrome action buttons, with the light bar being moved from the top edge to either side of the touchpad and has renamed the “Share” button to “Create” to offer players more means to share and create content with others.

Though no release date or price was announced during today’s events, PlayStation 5 is currently set to hit shelves this holiday season!
