The Jackbox Naughty Pack Preview: An M-Rated Party

Finally, an M-rated party that you’ve been invited to, unlike all those other ones you just read about. As the name suggests, The Jackbox Naughty Pack is a new adult-oriented spin on Jackbox Games’ party packs. I recently got to play a brief demonstration of the party game, which is out September 12, 2024, and I can confirm that it delivers just as many laughs as its PG counterparts (which usually got quite naughty with my friends anyhow).

Key members of Jackbox Games, including CEO Mike Bilder, creative director Brooke Breit, and game directors Warren Arnold and Tim Sniffen, walked us through the three games in the pack. Two of these will be quite familiar to series veterans, as Dirty Drawful and Fakin’ It All Night Long are more suggestive versions of Drawful and Fakin’ It. The lone fully new experience is Let Me Finish, which is a hilarious presentation game. However, no matter if the games are familiar or all-new, they’re all hilarious and wind up being a great time.

Dirty Drawful is the most self-explanatory. Like regular Drawful, players (who play the game with their phones) all receive different prompts for pictures they have to draw. The twist is that the prompts are more suggestive than before, and players then come up with names for what’s happening in the picture, with the funniest suggestion getting votes and winning. It’s the most natural fit for The Jackbox Naughty Pack, and considering the PG prompts often resulted in lewd pictures, you can expect even wilder times here.

Fakin’ It All Night Long is the sequel to the fan-favorite Fakin’ It, which was part of The Jackbox Party Pack 3. The original was also one of the few Jackbox games that were designed purely for in-person play rather than streaming, which makes sense given it’s a social deduction game that relies on one player per round being told to lie to questions. While Fakin’ It All Night Long does have a remote mode that allows everyone to play, which was what I experienced (and was very difficult since we were playing with strangers rather than friends), I’m much more excited to play this mode in person in the future as it’s just better suited for friends.

Finally, Let Me Finish is a fully new experience, which is a debating game. Players are presented with a lot of plain imagery and stock photos alongside ridiculous questions, such as asking where an inanimate object’s genitals are. This leads to some supremely goofy conversations and laughs as you can get into some good-natured yet still heated debates over the stupidest of topics. It’s good fun, and anyone who loves to argue will find this a lot of fun as you’ll have to win over your fellow players with your argument.

As far as the humor, The Jackbox Naughty Pack lands in a good zone for the team’s first M-rated affair. The prompts I saw get pretty suggestive, but the Jackbox team did discuss that they wanted to be fully inclusive, so you can expect sexual jokes but not anything offensive to races or sexualities. There will also be content filters, so players will be able to customize it a bit to their liking.

The Jackbox Naughty Pack Preview: Final Verdict

The Jackbox Naughty Pack seems like yet another winner for Jackbox. The studio has established itself as the best party game developer around and this is a smart way to expand its reach, giving fans a hilarious adult-oriented game for after the rest of the family has gone to bed. Whether in-person or over a stream, this looks to deliver plenty of laughs and ridiculous conversations you’d never have otherwise.
