In celebration of May the 4th, Walt Disney World has revealed new details about their highly-anticipated Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, confirming the introduction of a brand new lightsaber created by Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development. Originally scheduled to launch in 2021, the Star Wars-themed luxury hotel has been set to make its long-awaited launch in 2022 at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is being described as an all-immersive, two-night vacation experience that goes beyond anything Disney has ever created before. Starting in 2022, guests of the Galactic Starcruiser will be the first ones to see the new lightsaber in action as part of the many perks that fans will be able to enjoy in their two-day Star Wars adventure.

First announced in 2017 at the D23 Expo, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is a luxury hotel disguised as a cruise, except the cruise goes to outer space. Guests will enter a terminal where they will board Launch Pods, which takes them to The Halcyon Starcruiser, a glamourous starcruiser known for exotic expeditions in a galaxy far, far away. Inside the Halcyon, guests will find The Atrium, the welcoming place where crew and passengers gather, including interactions with an eclectic group of characters both familiar and new, possibly including the starcruiser’s strong and charismatic captain, a plucky ship’s mechanic, and a galactic superstar who can captivate an entire room with the crook of one jewel-encrusted purple Twi’lek finger.
Guests will also get to explore The Bridge, where they can operate the ship’s navigation and defense systems under the crew’s guidance. Furthermore, they will also have the chance to experience the traditional art of wielding a lightsaber. Other amenities include Passenger Cabin, The Sublight Lounge, and the Crown of Corellia Dining Room, which is being described as a bright and welcoming hall that will offer breakfast and lunch to passengers before transitioning each evening into a lavish multi-course menu of both otherworldly and familiar origins.

It was previously reported that the immersive experience would be like a living role-playing game as various “passengers” onboard come equipped with side quests and storylines for guests to participate in. Part of the journey will also include an excursion to Batuu, the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge planet at Disney World, where guests can take part in the all-new Rise of the Resistance ride or pilot the Millennium Falcon on the Smuggler’s Run experience.
