ComingSoon.net had the chance to speak with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance designer Doug Chiang, who is an award-winning designer and the Vice President and Executive Creator Director of Lucasfilm. Chiang, “a huge Star Wars fan” himself who spent five years on the project, talks about the challenges of bringing the universe to life in the new attraction, which is now open to the public at the Walt Disney World Resort at the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land. You can check out the video now in the player below!

When it opens, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will make guests feel like they’re on a Star Destroyer inside a hangar bay while “Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run” will give guests the opportunity to fly the Millennium Falcon, piloting the ship, shooting blasters or preparing for hyperspace – all while completing a critical mission. But how you perform on the mission holds even bigger stakes: perform with skill and you may earn extragalactic credits, while bringing the ship back banged up could put you on the list of a bounty hunter. End up on Harkos’s list and you may face a problem if you show up at the local cantina!

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will later open at the Disneyland Resort in California on Friday, January 17.
