The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Oscar-winning filmmaker Oliver Stone will be releasing his memoir in Fall 2020.

The book has been acquired by publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Stone’s memoir will center on his early years, including his time in Vietnam.
The filmmaker will also talk about his “overindulgences borne of youthful success,” alluding to his history of drugs and alcohol. Stone, who has also been married three times, explained that the purpose of his memoir is to reassess his life and says that all memories should be cherished, “pleasant or not.”

Stone won the Academy Awards for Best Director for 1989’s Born on the Fourth of July, 1986’s Platoon, and Best Writing for 1978’s Midnight Express. He has also won four Golden Globes and has been nominated for several projects, including Natural Born Killers, JFK, Evita, Salvador, and Nixon. He is currently in pre-production on White Lies, his upcoming drama starring Benicio Del Toro that Stone has written and will direct.
