The Hollywood Reporter says that Michael Bay’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon topped the home video charts, scoring first place finishes on both the sales and rental charts for the week ending October 2nd.
The summer blockbuster, which was released without any bonus features on Friday before a more feature-packed version down the road, topped the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert and dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales charts, bumping Universal’s Bridesmaids to second place. 64% of the title’s sales came from Blu-ray.
“Dark of the Moon” also topped Home Media Magazine’s rental chart for the week, as Paramount makes its titles available to all retail channels on the same day.
On the rental chart, “Dark of the Moon” knocked another Paramount title, Thor, out of first place and into second place.
The film was released in theaters on June 29 and has earned $1.12 billion at the worldwide box office.
