Warner Home Video’s 10,000 BC scored a triple victory for the week ending June 29, topping the national DVD sales and rental charts as well as the Blu-ray Disc sales chart its first week in stores.
The Hollywood Reporter says the prehistoric epic easily beat Paramount’s The Spiderwick Chronicles for the No. 1 slot on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, racking up about 25% more sales than the children’s fantasy.
10,000 BC also topped Home Media Magazine’s video rental chart for the week, generating about 20% more activity than second-ranked Fool’s Gold, also from Warner, which was No. 1 the previous week.
“Spiderwick” bowed at No. 3 on the rental chart and generated about 76% as much activity as did 10,000 BC.
Universal’s romantic comedy Definitely, Maybe debuted at No. 3 on First Alert, followed at No. 4 by Fool’s Gold, the previous week’s top seller.
On the Blu-ray chart, 10,000 BC easily took the top spot, with second-ranked “Spiderwick” selling just 31% as many copies.
