Blades of Glory skated to an easy victory in its first week on DVD, topping both the national home video sales and rental charts, says The Hollywood Reporter.
“Blades” was No. 1 on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart for the week ending September 2, with another new release, the complete first season of the hot TV series “Heroes,” debuting at No. 2.
The Will Ferrell comedy also bowed at No. 1 on trade publication Home Media Magazine’s video rental chart for the week, generating an estimated $9.5 million in revenue its first week in stores. The previous week’s top renter, Wild Hogs, slipped to No. 2 with $5.1 million.
“Hogs” also gave up its top slot on the sales chart, which it had held for two weeks, to finish at No. 3, just ahead of fellow chart veterans 300, at No. 4 and Perfect Stranger, at No. 5.
On the high-definition disc front, “Heroes” led Blades of Glory on the HD DVD charts. Both titles are available only on HD DVD. On the Blu-ray Disc chart, 300 remained No. 1.
