Video Business Online reports that The Butterfly Effect co-directors Eric Bress and J. Mackye Gruber have already completed the bonus features for the DVD version of their movie that opens this weekend, for which New Line says the filmmakers went over budget on the extras.
Nonetheless, New Line Home Entertainment VP content development Mike Mulvihill said during a panel discussion at the Sundance International Film Festival that the additional material for New Line’s Infinifilm version of the movie warrants the extra expense.
The filmmakers discussed the importance in providing more than just bad deleted scenes on a movie. Gruber and Bress said their DVD of “Butterfly Effect” features an optional alternate version of the film with a different ending–not a director’s cut–as well as interviews with experts and featurettes on chaos theory, which is the basis of the movie.
