Scott Peterson’s sister-in-law Janey believes he is innocent of the 2002 murders of Laci Peterson and their unborn son Conner. Now, for the first time in 20 years, Scott will speak in a Peacock documentary, Face to Face with Scott Peterson. It will comprise interviews with those involved in the case, including Janey Peterson, who continues to advocate for Scott’s innocence. The three-part documentary series premieres on August 20, 2024, and will delve into recent developments in the sensational case.
What has Scott Peterson’s sister-in-law Janey Peterson said about Laci’s murder?
Scott Peterson’s sister-in-law Janey has supported his claims of innocence in the murders of Laci and their unborn son, Conner. TODAY reported that Janey Peterson, the wife of his older brother Joe, has been fighting to prove his innocence for nearly two decades now. Janey told the outlet that she has known Scott since they were 13 and that they frequently talk. Scott currently serves a life sentence in the Mule Creek State Prison.
In the interview, Janey Peterson claimed new evidence can prove Scott’s innocence. She said, “There’s evidence that was completely ignored that shows Laci was alive after he left for the day.” Janey believes evidence can link a few men involved in a burglary right across the street from the Petersons’ house to the crime. She believes Laci Peterson got into a confrontation with these men the same morning she disappeared.
The burglars previously denied any involvement in Laci’s murder during Scott Peterson’s 2004 trial. However, in a recent development, the Los Angeles Innocence Project started investigating the convicted murderer’s “claim of actual innocence.” Then, in May, a judge granted new DNA testing on a piece of duct tape from the case, per NBC News.
Netflix will air American Murder: Laci Peterson, its latest documentary series, this August 14, 2024. The premiere comes only days before Peacock’s documentary, Face to Face with Scott Peterson, debuts on August 20.
