Betrayal: The Perfect Husband was released in 2023 and detailed the crimes of Spencer Herron. The true crime docuseries sees Jenifer Faison, a film producer and podcast host, recount her husband’s “double life.” She details how her seemingly perfect life and “fairytale romance” bubble were shattered after finding out about Herron’s affairs, lies, and criminal sexual assault. The docuseries also features interviews with the women who were allegedly involved with Herron and the student whose tip led to the former high school teacher’s arrest.

Per Daily Mail, Herron was arrested in 2018 and charged with three counts of sexual assault. The alleged acts occurred while he was teaching at Kell High School in Marietta, Georgia. Herron pleaded guilty in January 2019 to the sexual assault charges, reported ABC News. He received five years in prison and 15 years of probation. However, the Georgia Department of Corrections has stated that the sentence length is six years.

The Georgia Department of Corrections notes that Spencer Herron was released from prison on July 28, 2022. His most recent institution was Wilcox State Prison. According to ABC News, he was required to register as a sex offender when parole was granted. As mentioned in the docuseries Betrayal: The Perfect Husband, Herron was last known to be living with his family when the episodes were released, reported Screen Rant

Following Herron’s arrest, Faison went through her husband’s Facebook account and uncovered his secret life. She also got access to the emails that revealed his exchanges with the women he was involved with. She spoke about Herron’s crimes on her Betrayal podcast. Later, one of Herron’s victims, a 16-year-old student at the time, came forward as an adult to reveal her story.

During the aftermath of the abuse, some people refused to believe Rachel’s claims against the man who was previously named Cobb County’s Teacher of the Year. According to ABC News, she shared on the podcast that she went from “a happy, carefree, and hopeful teenager to a cynical, angry, and depressed one.” Furthermore, Faison added that the “healing’s not over yet.”
