Gypsy Rose Blanchard‘s life after prison has been a tremendous affair. She is currently in the midst of a divorce from Ryan Anderson, whom she married in jail.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard spent 10 years in prison for her involvement in her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard’s murder. Reports suggest that Greene County, Missouri, deputies discovered the 48-year-old’s body on June 14, 2015. At the time, her corpse had 17 stab wounds, and her daughter had vanished into thin air. Officials initially believed that Blanchard’s killer kidnapped her daughter. However, it did not take too long for the truth to come to light. As the investigation continued, they learned that the plot to kill Blanchard was planned by Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn. The court sentenced Blanchard to 10 years in prison for her actions, while Godejohn received a lifetime imprisonment sentence. The former was charged with second-degree murder, and the latter with first-degree murder.
After serving eight out of ten years, the 32-year-old finally came out of prison on December 28, 2023. She was already married to Ryan Anderson, and after her release, the couple began living together.
Unfortunately, their union was short-lived because, on March 28, 2024, she announced that she and her husband had separated. According to People Magazine, Blanchard and Anderson got into a heated argument that proved to be the final nail in their relationship’s coffin earlier this year. The ex-inmate thought that her husband was “controlling”, but Anderson has denied this.
When did Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Anderson get married?
Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Anderson got married in prison in 2022. In a recent conversation with People Magazine, the 32-year-old spoke about her split from her husband. She stated that the entire ordeal was heartbreaking because the purpose of marriage, in normal circumstances, is not divorce. Additionally, she said it has been hard for her to process the emotions of parting ways with Anderson. Blanchard said, “It’s heartbreaking, because no one gets married to get a divorce. Processing those emotions has been hard.”
Interestingly, Blanchard believes separating from her husband was instrumental in her freedom. She said, “I think that there is a sense of freedom of following your heart, following what you feel like is right for you. In my marriage, I felt like a part of me was lost in it, and so I feel like I found that missing piece of myself that I always felt was lost and now reclaiming that back. I definitely feel a sense of belonging in that space.”
Gypsy Rose Blanchard is currently dating her 31-year-old ex-fiance, Ken Urker. Like Anderson, she met him when she was behind bars and reconnected with him after her release. Blanchard stated that she was in love with Urker and that he supported her when she was going through emotional turmoil.
The upcoming Lifetime docuseries Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup will take a candid look at Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s life after her release. Per Lifetime’s official website, its first episode, titled “So This is Freedom?” will premiere on June 03, 2024.
