Iconic Canadian singer Celine Dion has had a massive and iconic career and her story will now be showcased in the form of a documentary. According to Variety, Amazon MGM will release I Am: Céline Dion very soon. Unfortunately, its exact release date remains unknown. Notably, this project will delve into the pop star’s struggle with a rare neurological disorder called Stiff Person Syndrome.
Celine Dion was married to her former manager René Angélil, from 1994 till his death in 2016. Together, the couple had three children. All three of them are boys and they are named: René-Charles Angélil, Nelson Angélil, and Eddy Angélil.
Interestingly, reports suggest that Celine Dion met her future husband when she was only 12 years old. At the time, Angélil was 38. Furthermore, their relationship turned romantic when 19, but the couple decided to keep it a secret for many years. They got engaged in 1993 and eventually tied the knot the following year. Sadly, Angélil was diagnosed with cancer several times throughout her life. This even prompted his singer-wife to take a break from her career and look after him.
According to People Magazine, Celine Dion considers her role as a parent to be her biggest blessing. In a 2007 interview, she stated that her life is not about being a singer but being a mother. She said, “It is what I enjoy the most. It is my most amazing reward. “I will take a chance with my music. I don’t take risks with my family.”

Celine Dion and René Angélil’s first son, René-Charles Angélil, was born on Jan. 25, 2001. At the time of his birth, Dione was 32 while her husband was 59. In 2006, when René-Charles was 5, his mother had a conversation with People Magazine when she described the joy of motherhood. She said, “It relaxes me to read stories to him, do finger painting, play with Play-Doh. I think people have a hard time imagining I can have a normal life, but I do.”
After his father’s passing, René-Charles reportedly displayed impeccable strength. In a conversation with Extra in February 2017, Dione revealed what she told her son after her husband’s death. She stated, “I said to him, ‘I never want you to feel the pressure of being the man of the house, you have your own dreams and he is always with you in your heart and I am here for you.”
In 2018, René-Charles released two songs on Soundcloud, that met widespread acclaim. After their release, he spoke about the time he played the songs to his mother for the first time. He said, “I just felt like keeping it on the low. But she loved it. She was just kind of stunned at first because she’d never heard anything from me.” René-Charles Angélil is currently 23 years old.
Celine Dione and René Angélil’s twins, Nelson and Eddy Angélil were born on Oct. 23, 2010. While Eddy was named after producer Eddy Marnay, Nelson was named after the first president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela.
Furthermore, Dione posted a touching message on Instagram in 2020, on the occasion of the twins’ birthdays. The message said, “Nelson and Eddy, you have been bringing so much joy, love, and laughter into our lives every single day for the past 10 years. You make me, your big brother, and your Dad, who is for sure watching over you, so very proud. Happy birthday my beautiful boys! We love you so very much.”
Nelson and Eddy Angélil are currently 13 years old.
