The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard: What was Gypsy Rose Blanchard accused of?
Dee Dee Blanchard suffered from Munchausen by proxy, which made her hold her daughter as a medical prisoner for several years. As per People Magazine, Dee Dee had mentally and physically abused her daughter throughout her life. The former convinced her neighbors that Gypsy was terminally ill and had a seven-year-old’s mind. She even lied about the teen’s medical issues. However, the truth did not come to light until Dee Dee’s murder in 2015.
According to NBC Chicago, Gypsy Rose Blanchard initially faced charges of first-degree murder. However, since she was a victim of abuse, Gypsy was offered a plea deal. Following her acceptance of the same, the court charged her with second-degree murder for her role in her mother’s murder. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison. But if she did not accept the plea bargain, she would have received life imprisonment just like Nicholas Godejohn.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard is currently married to a Louisiana-based teacher named Ryan Anderson. The couple tied the knot in 2022.
