The National Geographic channel has been the gold standard for nature documentaries and content for more than two decades. Currently, its owner is the National Geographic Global Networks unit of Disney Entertainment and National Geographic Partners. This partnership is a joint venture between the Walt Disney Company and the National Geographic Society. 73% of the operation is controlled by the former, while the rest is by the latter.
The National Geographic Channel was launched in the USA in 2001. A few months ago, Byron Allen made a $10 Billion bid to acquire ABC, FX, and National Geographic. However, a few days after this bid, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that Allen’s offer had been rejected.

Released in 2019, Lost Treasures Of The Maya Season 1 consists of four episodes. This series showcases National Geographic Explorer Albert Lin’s journey into the Guatemalan jungle. Lin furthermore explores and discovers the lost ruins of the Maya civilization.
