Marvel has unveiled the latest dual collaboration with audio and reading platform Serial Box as Jessica Jones: Playing With Fire, a fully immersive e-book and audiobook that is set to premiere on the service on May 28! A free audio preview of the new story can be listened to below!

The new series sees the titular super-powered private detective as she struggles to continue ignoring her unique traumas, but also seeks to give the “whole self-care” thing a try, seeing a therapist and finding healthier coping mechanisms (notably no business-hour drinking), working towards not wanting to punch things and even taking the occasional case that won’t eat her alive. The latest, a simple missing persons case, fits the bill perfectly until a boy’s body turns up in what appears to be a cut-and-dried OD, sending Jessica diving headlong into an obsessive search for answers.
The 16-episode series is penned by best-selling novelist Lauren Beukes, four-time Hugo Award-finalist Elsa Sjunneson, Zoe Quinn (Vertigo’s Goddess Mode), Vita Ayala (Marvel’s Nebula; Age of X) and Sam Beckbessinger (Team Jay). The audiobook format is set to be narrated by voice actress Fryda Wolff (Justice League Action; Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series).
Marvel previously worked with Serial Box for Marvel’s Thor: Metal Gods and Marvel’s Black Widow: Bad Blood, which are currently available to listen to or read on the platform!

The first three episodes of Jessica Jones: Playing With Fire are set to launch on Thursday, May 28, with new episodes releasing in weekly installments thereafter. The full 16-episode series will be available to purchase for $9.99.
