The ongoing costume C-drama The Double, starring Wu Jinyan and Wang Xingyue, released episode 32 on June 19, 2024. As seen in the previous episode, Fang Fei (Wu Jinyan) performed with Shen Yurong at the delegation. Episode 32 focuses on Fang Fei’s visit to the Shen residence.
In this episode, before leaving for the border with King Zhao’s convoy, Xiao Heng meets Fang Fei. He advises her to put her own needs first and not change herself for anyone, including him. As Situ eavesdrops on them, she gets jealous of their growing closeness.
When Shen Yurong’s mother sees Jiang Li’s name on the guest list for the dinner party to be held at the Shen residence, she gets infuriated. She confronts her son, demanding that he take out Jiang Li’s name, as it will upset the princess. To keep her from causing any more trouble, Yurong sneakily gives her some sleeping medicine, which soon makes her fall into a deep slumber.
At the dinner party, Fang Fei feels agitated. She visits her old room, where she was held captive by the Shen family. She also recalls the series of incidents that unfolded on the night her husband accused her of being an adulterer.
Meanwhile, Yurong follows her. It takes Fang Fei by surprise when he asks if she will continue to pretend to be someone else. Fang Fei reveals that she is not afraid of Yurong exposing her identity, as he has had multiple chances to do so, but he has remained quiet.
Fang Fei calls him pitiful. She knows that Yurong’s mother forced him to commit the crimes. She wants him to confess in front of the Emperor about what he and Princess Wanning have been up to. This is the only way for him to atone for his sins.
Fang Fei gets heartbroken when Yurong refuses to put his family in danger. He urges her not to face Wanning, as she is a dangerous woman who has the support of King Cheng.

Furthermore, Fang Fei calls him a coward. She blames him for caring for his criminal family but not for her. Yurong tries to force himself on her, but Ye Shijie arrives there on time and knocks him out with a stick.
Despite Shijie’s urges to leave the place with him, Fang Fei takes the blame on herself. Yurong is taken into custody after Shijie testified against him for trying to violate Fang Fei. When Jiang Li’s father hears the news, he decides to seek justice for his daughter and start a case against the Shen family.
Princess Wanning visits Yurong, who is in prison, at the Court of Judicial Review. To her surprise, he doesn’t want her help. He pushes her away and threatens to end his own life if she doesn’t kill him. He wishes to repent for his sins and is eagerly waiting for banishment or lifetime imprisonment. Wanning makes it clear that his life is in her hands.
As soon as Xiao Heng hears the news, he pays Fang Fei a visit. He tears up, thinking how she doesn’t even mind tarnishing her own reputation to seek justice.
What happened in The Double Episode 32’s ending?
The emperor is angry at Xiao Heng for getting attached to Fang Fei. Xiao Heng reminds him of his struggles as a young Emperor, who was criticized for being too emotional. He vows to be loyal to him as long as he can ensure Fang Fei’s safety.
Further in the episode, Fang Fei visits Princess Wanning, who wishes to practice Guqin with her. Fang Fei accuses her of hurting innocent people to fulfill her own agenda. The Princess shows no remorse and reveals that she can go to any extent to be with Yurong.
She narrates how she fell for him at first sight and always envied his wife. Fang Fei reminds her that the Yurong she fell for is not the same person as the Yurong who committed the murders.
