This week (May 27–June 2, 2024), many popular and much-anticipated Chinese costume dramas will deliver new episodes. From thriller C-drama The Last Cook to General Well, new shows with thrilling storylines will also premiere, and ongoing shows will carry out their weekly run. These shows will fall under fantasy, romance, thrillers, and other genres.
Here is a list of C-dramas that are releasing new episodes this week:
1. The Last Cook
This romantic thriller C-drama premieres on May 27, 2024. It features Hai Lu and Ji Ling Chen in the lead roles. The drama tells the story of Rong Er (Hai Lu), a commoner who gets the opportunity to serve in the palace as a court lady. Her cooking skills win everyone’s hearts. Also, she develops bonds with many palace retainers, including Shouxi, who trains her as her disciple.
Meanwhile, she falls in love with Li Qi (Ji Ling Chen), the palace guard. After Shouxi is murdered by an eunuch, Rong Er joins hands with Li Qi to investigate the murder. While exploring, they also uncover the truth about the theft of inestimable treasures at the palace. This drama will air every day of the week.
2. General Well (Ep 7-15)
This C-drama, featuring Wang You Shuo and Zhao Zhao Yi, tells the story of Fu Xiao (Zhao Zhao Yi), a skilled martial artist who comes across commander Yan Chang Yun (Wang You Shou) while on a mission. Although they initially dislike each other, they get close after Fu Xiao loses her memory in an accident. Soon, they join hands to uncover the truth about the duplicitous court and officials.

3. Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact (Ep 11-24)
This popular ongoing C-drama, starring Yang Mi and Gong Jun, will release a total of 14 episodes this week. It will continue to tell the love story of Yuechu (Gong Jun) and Tushan Hong Hong (Yang Mi) as they struggle to reestablish peace in the Tushan clan.
The fox spirits and the humans clash due to their contrasting ideologies. Shi Ji, the evil spirit lord, returned centuries later to finish Hong Hong and regain power over the spirits. Hong Hong and Yuechu join hands with some benevolent spirits to put an end to her reign of terror.

4. Life After Life (Ep 11-17)
The ongoing fantasy C-drama Life After Life will release a total of seven episodes this week. It features Zhang He and Li Zi Xuan in the lead roles. It tells the story of a young spirit officer named Meng You (Li Zi Xuan), who possesses a peculiar ability. After she accidentally releases Li Bu Gui (Zhang He), she unknowingly creates a problem for her grandmother. To save her grandmother’s life, Meng You searches for Li Bu Gui. She slowly comes to understand that he is a great martial artist. Will Meng You succeed in her mission?

5. Love in the Tea Garden
The romantic comedy C-drama Love in the Tea Garden premieres on May 28, 2024. It follows the story of Ye Xi Yan (Qi Yan Di), who meets with a terrible car accident. Lu Ming Yu (Eric Hsiao), the owner of a countryside tea garden, saves her and cares for her until she recovers. Ye Xi Yan, who comes from a rich family, pretends to have lost her memory and is mistaken to be a commoner. A series of incidents led to her being engaged to Lu Ming Yu.
Love in the Garden will be available to stream on Youku.
Furthermore, The Journey to Find True Love and Shadows of You will release their final episodes on June 1 and May 29, 2024, respectively. Also, Special Action, Hello! Mr. Convex, Insect Detective 2, Present Is Present, and Joy of Life Season 2 will continue their weekly run.
