The ongoing Wuxia C-drama Joy of Life Season 2, starring Zhang Ruoyun, released episode 13 on May 22, 2024. The episode focuses on Miss Jin’s murderers accusing Fan Xian of being the conspirator. Fan Xian gives the second prince an antidote after serving him poisoned wine. The prince hesitates to take the antidote at first but proceeds to take it as his life is on the line. He asks Miss Ye to collect his body if he passes away on his way home.
On the way home with Wan Er, Fan Xian struggles to make conversation with her. Qi Nian announces that he is taking them to President Chen as he is worried about Fan Xian’s injury. At last, Wan Er breaks the silence. They start to catch up on past events. Fan Xian expresses his gratitude to Wan Er for standing up for him in front of Cheng Ze. They slowly resolve all misunderstandings between them.
After arriving at the Chen Manor, the couple finds that a grand celebration is taking place. Fan Xian catches up with General Qin and asks for his opinion on the ongoing occurrences. General Qin advises him not to mess with powerful people like the crown prince or the chancellor. But he also assures Fan Xian that neither he nor his family are connected with these families. Furthermore, he promises that his loyalty only lies with the emperor. Fan Xian promises him that his family won’t get caught in the crossfire as long as they do not embezzle any funds.

The Overwatch Council, led by Deng Zi Yue, disguises itself to look for the murderers of Miss Jin in the moonlit pavilion. After searching through every nook and cranny of the capital, they are able to locate the culprits. The members of the council rush over to catch them.
Fan Xian comes to Chen Ping Ping after he has sobered up. He announces that he is not after eradicating corruption just because he is on good terms with the second prince. Chen Ping Ping advises him to focus only on his long-term goals. He presents him with a box of jewelry collected by the courtesans from the palace. Chen asks Fan Xian to impeach him next time. Fan Xian is not able to make sense of his scheme but decides to put his trust in President Chen.
When asked if he truly intended to take the life of Cheng Ze, Fan Xian answered that he just wanted to intimidate him. Cheng Ze takes other people’s lives lightly, and he needs to experience his life flashing before his eyes. Fan Xian expresses his wish to eradicate people like Cheng Ze using the law.
After coming back to the council, Fan Xian faces another conundrum. He finds that the culprits have portrayed him as the mastermind behind their plan in their confession. While Qi Nian is furious at their confession, Fan Xian keeps his composure. The culprits ask him to drop his act and confess. Meanwhile, the judicial bureau sends a messenger asking to take the culprits into their custody. However, while transporting, masked assassins attack their carriage and kill the three culprits on the spot.
Furthermore, Cheng Ze is able to bemuse Miss Ye with his words to the point that she also starts to suspect Fan Xian’s intentions. While most of the assassins manage to escape, one of them gets caught. The imprisoned assassin’s identity causes turmoil, as he is none other than Fan Wu Jiu, Cheng Ze’s trusted bodyguard.
