Some of the most-anticipated Chinese shows are premiering this week (April 28 – May 5). From fantasy to thrillers, these shows will keep C-drama fans hooked. While popular ongoing dramas like Tender Light, The Substitute Princess’s Love, and Will Love in Spring will continue with their weekly run, new shows like Young Babylon and Long Time No See will finally meet viewers.
Here is a list of C-dramas that are releasing new episodes this week:
1. Young Babylon
The romantic C-drama Young Babylon is all set to premiere on April 29, 2024. It features Neo Hou and Yang Cai Yu in the lead roles. It is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Lu Nei. The drama tells the story of Xiao Lou (Neo Hou), who starts his career as a factory worker at the young age of 19. At the time of the economic reformation of China, he struggles to acquaint himself with the new ways of living.
All 26 episodes of Young Babylon will be available to stream throughout the week on Tencent Video and WeTV.
2. Long Time No See
The romantic C-drama Long Time No See premiers on April 29, 2024. It features Jing Yanjun, Shi Hanglu, Wang Zexuan, and Ma Jiaming in the lead roles. It was previously named We Shall Meet Again. The mini-drama will release a total of 12 episodes, which will be available for streaming throughout the week on Hunan TV and Mango TV.
3. Our Memories
The youth C-drama Our Memories will premiere on April 30, 2024. It features Lu Xiao Yu and Fang Xiaodong in lead roles. It tells the story of a group of high school students as they deal with love and friendship. The 21-episodic drama will be available to stream throughout the week on iQIYI.
4. The Substitute Princess’s Love (Ep 15 – 24)
This ongoing historical C-drama will release its season finale on May 2, 2024. It tells the story of Shen Ke Yi (Zhang Miao Yi), the illegitimate daughter of the Shen family, who finds herself being forced to marry Wen Ye (Dylan Kuo), the god of war. Shen Ke Yi’s stepmother replaced her daughter with Ke Yi after hearing of his demise on the battlefield. Although their marriage was a result of miscommunication, they eventually learned to rely on each other. Wan Ye teaches her the true meaning of love.
The Substitute Princess’s Love is available to stream on iQIYI.
5. Tender Light (Ep 6 – 19)
The ongoing C-drama Tender Light will release a total of 14 episodes this week. It features Tong Yao and Zhang Xincheng in the lead roles. It tells the story of Zhou Luo (Zhang Xincheng), a straight-A student who returns to his hometown. There, he falls for a mysterious woman named Nan Ya (Tong Yao). The two get entangled in the murder of Nan Ya’s abusive husband.
Tender Light is available to stream throughout the week on Youku.
Other than these popular dramas, Will Love in Spring will release its season finale on May 5, 2024. Meanwhile, Lady Revenger Returns From the Fire, My Divine Emissary, In the Name of the Brother, and Shooting Stars will continue with their weekly run.
