The ongoing modern C-drama Best Choice Ever released episode 35 on April 24, 2024. It features Xu Kai and Yang Zi in the lead roles. The episode focuses on Cheng Huan’s (Yang Zi) mother accidentally finding out about Cheng Zao (Gala Zhang) and Mao’s (Xu Ling Yue) relationship. Cheng Huan (Yang Zi), Zhi Ming (Xu Kai), Cheng Zao, and Mao discuss the upcoming trial. Zao is confident that he will be able to bring back Mao’s son. Suddenly, Mrs. Liu enters the room and is shocked to see Zao holding Mao’s hand.
Zao takes this opportunity to tell his parents about his relationship with Mao. Mrs. Liu falls quiet. She wishes them luck for the upcoming trial and locks herself in her room. Cheng Huan takes the entire blame on herself. She and her father try to cheer up Mrs. Liu, but she is not ready to listen to them. The next day, all the members of the Mai family, along with Zhi Ming, return home from work. But Mrs. Liu is nowhere to be found. They start to look around the neighborhood and all the familiar places, but they fail to trace Mrs. Liu.
Zhi Ming notices that Mrs. Liu has not taken the house key with her. He has a feeling that she ran away from home, and he decides to inform Cheng Huan. Meanwhile, a delivery agent knocks at their door. He delivers them a letter written by Mrs. Liu. In the letter, she mentions that she needs a break from her chaotic life. She wants to see beautiful places. Mrs. Liu assures them that she will come back when her mood improves.
Mrs. Liu goes back to her ancestral home in the village. The Mai family starts thinking of all the familiar places where Mrs. Liu could be. After successfully locating her, Cheng Huan and Zhi Ming drive all night to reach her. After Mrs. Liu opens the door, Cheng Huan breaks down, crying. She blames her mother for leaving without any trace.
Mrs. Liu tells her that she wants some peace. She reminds her of the time Cheng Huan wished to live separately, as she felt suffocated at home. Despite Cheng Huan begging her to return, Mrs. Liu refuses to leave. Meanwhile, Cheng Huan receives a devastating phone call from her brother. He has obtained Mrs. Liu’s medical records, which show that she is sick and has been diagnosed with a lung tumor.
