The ongoing modern C-drama Best Choice Ever released episode 28 on April 21, 2024. It features Xu Kai and Yang Zi in the lead roles. The episode focuses on Cheng Huan (Yang Zi) and her mother making up. Mrs. Liu realizes how she added to her daughter’s hardships and visits her at her workplace. Cheng Huan is upset with her mother for disturbing her at work. She tells her off for belittling her in front of her staff. It bothers Cheng Huan that her mother does not have a life of her own, and her entire existence revolves around her daughter.
Cheng Huan tells off her mother for not caring about her brother. Mrs. Liu asks if she thinks of her as a burden. Cheng Huan angrily agrees with the statement. This prompts Mrs. Liu to leave, and Cheng Huan breaks down. Meanwhile, Zhang Ziyu comforts Mrs. Liu. She asks her not to take Cheng Huan’s words to heart as there will always be a generation gap between old and new.
Zhi Ming (Xu Kai) comes home to find Mrs. Liu and Zhang Ziyu together. He tells Mrs. Liu not to be upset as she met Cheng Huan when she was at work and has to rationally deal with the situation. Mrs. Liu feels wronged and thinks that Cheng Huan used her as a stepping stone to establish authority.
Best Choice Ever ep 28: Yang Zi becomes her brother’s biggest reliance
Zhi Ming tells Zhang Ziyu about his relationship with Cheng Huan. He tells her how much he likes Cheng Huan and politely asks her not to come in between them.
After work, Cheng Huan comes to visit her parents. She tells her mother that she does not know how to communicate with her. She also opens up about how her mother’s high expectations stress her out. Cheng Huan is afraid that her mother will try to discipline her again. Mrs. Liu apologizes for slapping Cheng Huan. She knows that she has done as she wishes and has criticized her kids to the point where they don’t want to keep in touch with her.
She tells Cheng Huan to be happy as it would make her happy too. Cheng Huan expresses her love for her mother. They finally hug and make up.
It is Mai Cheng Zao’s birthday the next day. His family prepares an elaborate meal for him. But he doesn’t visit. He is upset as Mao has asked him to stay away from her. She has lost custody of her child as her ex-husband cunningly turned her son against her. She is heartbroken. Mao thinks that Zao’s family will never approve of a divorced woman as their son’s partner.
Zao refuses to see his family and only decides to visit Cheng Huan. The two siblings meet up. Cheng Huan gives him the gifts her family and Zhi Ming prepared for him. She consoles Zao. Cheng Huan does not force him to go home but rather asks him to take his time to heal.
