Suspense or thriller has always been a well-received genre among C-drama lovers. The network giant iQIYI has recently disclosed a list containing the names of upcoming dramas belonging to this particular genre that will come out in 2024. This list of iQIYI C-dramas unveils a star-studded cast list, including popular actors like Zhang Songwen, Qin Hao, Yang Mi, and others.
The suspense C-dramas that will meet viewers this year include Lost in the Shadows, Interlaced Scenes, In the Name of the Brother, and more.
1. Lost in the Shadows
This upcoming iQIYI C-drama is set in the 90’s. It features Zhang Songwen and Rong Zi Shan in the lead roles. In this thriller drama, one of the three missing children turns up dead. After three years, one of the missing children reappears with amnesia and an erased memory. Meanwhile, an old policeman feels that the family of the victim is hiding something. The hunch leads to him secretly investigating the case. In the process, he unveils layers of secrets. Will he be able to get to the bottom of the truth and also rescue the other victim?
2. Interlaced Scenes
This anticipated C-drama will feature Ma Yili, Gao Zhiting, and Tong Dawei in the lead roles. It is an adaptation of the famous Japanese novel “The Passed Scene” by Matsumoto Seicho. Two detectives, Jiang Guangming (Ma Yili) and Shi Luo (Gao Zhiteng), encounter a peculiar incident while investigating a crime. The crime scene bears an uncanny resemblance with a scene described in novelist Gu Jiming’s (Tong Dawei) book. The novel gives a new direction to their investigation. As fiction and reality intertwine, they face new mysteries and puzzles. Will they be able to get to the real culprit who is behind all of this?
3. In the Name of the Brother
This is a period iQIYI C-drama set in the 40s that features Qin Hao and Yang Mi in the lead roles. It is set in the Manchukuo Regime in Harbin. An underground party member, Song Zhuowen (Qin Hao), who has taken the disguise of a railway policeman, is mistaken for his twin brother, Zhuowu, by Guan Xue (Yang Mili), the head of the secret service.
Meanwhile, Zhuowu appears. The brothers are completely contrasting in nature. While Zhuowen is calm and has a functioning mind, Zhuowu is impulsive and meddles with his brother’s investigation.
However, they form an allegiance and work side by side to gain the trust of the high-ranking Japanese officials. They work tirelessly to unveil the secrets of the Japanese army and the Soviet Union. Furthermore, they expose many spies who have joined hands with the enemy.
4. Tell No One
In this iQIYI C-drama, a prominent police officer who had gone undercover to investigate a gang suddenly disappears after exposing them. His daughter, Zheng Dong Yu (Liyi Tong), works hard to become a police officer to find her father. Meanwhile, Gao Yang (Ou Hao), another police officer who worked on the case with Dong Yu’s father, is also looking for him. Will they be able to uncover what happened to the undercover agent?
