Thriller C-drama White Cat Legend has released episode one on February 20, 2024. It follows the genres of mystery, fantasy and adventure. The drama features Ding Yuxi, Zhou Qi, Ding Jiawen and Zhang Yicong in the main roles. The original broadcasting network of the drama is iQIYI. Wang Wei has directed it. The drama is an adaptation of the famous manhwa “Dali Si Rizhi”.
White Cat Legend is a period drama that takes place during the Tang Dynasty. It tells the story of Li Bing (Ding Yuxi), who has been appointed as the Assistant Minister of the temple. At a night banquet, the Empress recognizes his worth and gives him the responsibility to look after the Dali Temple. Following his leadership, a group of temple members allied to uphold justice in the kingdom. They work hard to solve crimes and bring peace to the common people.
Episode one of White Cat Legend reveals that the Court of Judicial Review is in charge of all the prisons in the kingdom. But after the Minister of Judicial Review mysteriously died a few years ago, the organization has lost its former glory. The emperor is away. A man is crossing a bridge in a carriage with the lady he has rented for the night. Suddenly, a mysterious fog surrounds the vehicle and the horses refuse to go forward. When he gets off the carriage to see what is going on, a humongous cat attacks him and devours everyone. The passengers vanished without a trace.
Viewers are acquainted with numerous important characters. Chen Shi (Zhou Qi), a boy from the countryside, arrives in the city. He finds his surroundings and people amusing. A beautiful white cat is keeping watch over the city from a rooftop. While he is admiring its beauty, a little girl steals his buns and runs away. He meets the white stray cat once again, who saves his life from a firecracker that is about to explode. Chen Shi continues to chase the girl and bumps into Alibaba (Wa Er) and Sun Bao (Zhang Yicong), two members of the royal court. They have taken disguises to catch a criminal.
In the first episode of White Cat Legend, Chen Shi helps them take down the thug. When the criminal attacks him and is about to stab him in the neck, the cat magically appears on the spot. It has a supernatural ability to pause time and it saves his life. When the Vice Minister arrives at the crime scene, she mistakes Chen Shi for the culprit and takes him into custody. But Alibaba and Sun Bao have his back and they vouch for him. Soon, they let him go.
Mysterious murders have started to take place around the kingdom. Masked assassins attack the Li Residence. They attack the master of the house with poison darts and swords and murder everyone. The Vice Minister is investigating the demon cat murder case. It seems to be attracted to the smell of blood.
