Thriller C-drama Frozen Surface released its final episode on January 19, 2024. The drama kept its viewers hooked until the end with its complicated and twisted storyline. It revealed many subplots and characters who are beyond evil. Frozen Surface released 12 episodes in total. The drama follows the story of Captain Guan Yu (Chen Jianbin) of Lanhe criminal police and his attempts at solving various murders that are taking place around Lanhe; as he digs deeper, more mysteries reveal themselves.
Frozen Surface’s finale revealed what happened on the night of the murder. Mr. Xiang (Zhao Jian) and the female killer, Jinzhu Hua, arrive at the Hongqiao residence. Mr. Xiang waits in the car, and the killer goes inside. She first kills the security guard. When she points her gun at Mr. Hongqiao, he uses his wife as a shield to save himself. Afterwards, his wife shoots him. She freaks out and jumps from the window when she realizes what she has done. Mr. Xiang comes inside to check everything. The two quietly leave the house.

Mr. Xiang takes Ling Zi to the abandoned factory and threatens to kill her. He tells her to frame him for all of the crimes, including disposition of Yang Xuesong and Wang Shen’s body. Soon, the police arrive at the scene. However, Captain Guan Yu can see through his lies and asks him to drop his act. As his last resort, Xiang throws the most crucial evidence, Xuesong’s phone, into a drilling machine. The police take him into custody.
Cheng Gen (Yu Yang) is interrogated about the homicide case. He blames it on Wang Ping (Deng Jiajia). He says that she was upset with him about the riverside project. Gen said that Wang Ping wanted to kill Mr. Hongqiao and blame it on Yang Xuesong. He also confesses to killing Xuesong mistakenly when they engaged in a scuffle at the shrine.
Guan Yu and the police decide to look for Wang Ping. Yang Si (Hu Jun) is still not aware of his son’s death. On the other hand, the police go after Jinzhu Hua. The police corners her, but she tries to escape from there. The police shoot her at point blank.
In the latest episode of Frozen Surface, Yang Si hears about his son’s violent death and decides to go after Wang Ping. He causes a commotion and breaks out of the police van. He finds Wang Ping after a long search, knocks her out, and tries to flee with her. The police go after him, but he somehow manages to get out.
Yang Si takes Wang Ping to the snow-covered Lanhe river. He drags her across the river and tries to drown her. The police arrived at the scene and surrounded him. After a long conversation with Guan Yu, Yang finally lets her go. But he jumps into the frozen river to his demise.
At the end of the series, all the offenders, including Wang Ping and Xiang, get punishments according to their crimes. And justice is finally served.
