Shout! Factory and Eleven Arts have announced that they’ll be releasing the 2021 film Ryoma! Rebirth: The Prince of Tennis Movie on Blu-ray and DVD on July 5, 2022.

The Blu-ray and DVD combo pack will present the full-length alternative cut of the film, which includes a variety of different scenes featuring Hyotei team captain Keigo Atobe and Shitenhoji team captain Kuranosuke Shiraishi.

The film’s release will also mark the first time North American audiences have access to the movie, and will also include both a dubbed and subbed version of the film, alongside special bonus content on the discs. The film is available to pre-order now on Shout! Factory’s website.

“Inspired by his tennis champion father, Ryoma is determined to train in the U.S. after winning a championship in Japan,” reads the official synopsis of the film. “He runs into his classmate Sakuno right as she gets into trouble with street gangs, and Ryoma accepts a tennis match against the villains to save her. During the intense tennis battle, the shock of two tennis balls ramming into one another disrupts the follow of time! Ryoma and Sakuno suddenly transported back into the past, decades before, when Ryoma’s father challenged his last match at a championship in the U.S.”
