Aoyama was introduced as one of the more quirky and cheerful heroes in the series. He was born Quirkless and was given a quirk by AFO in exchange for his and his family’s loyalty. However, it wasn’t until My Hero Academia chapter 337 that Aoyama and his parents were revealed to have been working for All For One.

While the news caused panic in Class 1-A, Deku forgave his classmate, telling him he could still be a hero. Thanks to Aizawa, Aoyama proved himself by helping the heroes catch AFO off guard. However, the end of the war brought new beginnings for the bubbly Hero.

After the war, Aoyama decided to drop out of the U.A. as he felt he didn’t deserve to graduate with them. Since AFO decided on his enrollment, he deemed it unfair to graduate from them. However, he vowed to continue walking the path of a Hero and atone for his sins until he could stand with them. Moreover, Aoyama decided to cheer the rest of his classmates by giving them a laser show before leaving. His exit from the class made it possible for Shinsoo to transfer in, which made the class cheerful. Though his leaving left fans sad, it opens new possibilities for him and the rest of the class.
