Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 1 premiered on Sunday, July 7, 2024, on Netflix. With the return of the Fairy Tail franchise, viewers were taken back to Magnolia, where the Fairy Tail guild is reintroduced, stirring excitement for the rest of the season.
Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode 1, “The “First” Guild and the “Strongest” Guild,” opens in the year X633, when the world’s first magic guild was formed. The episode shows a town on fire where an old man comments on the necessity to protect wizards.
A new member joins the Fairy Tail Guild
The episode fast-forwards to the year X793, in the city of Magnolia. Showing the Fairy Tail guild, the installment introduces three new joiners. However, Laxus intimidates two of them and they flee the group, leaving but one new member, Touka. Touka desires to join Natsu Dragneel’s guild, calling the protagonist her “sweet darling.”
Touka explains that Natsu saved her a year ago and inquires about Natsu’s whereabouts. Makarov Dreyar informs her that Natsu and other Fairy Tail members are on a mission. This prompts the episode to shift focus to Natsu, Lucy, Gray, Erza, Wendy, Happy, and Charle.

Natsu meets Gildarts to understand the 100 Years Quest
While Natsu and Happy play with the mana-induced snow, Erza suspects getting close to the world’s oldest guild, the Magia Dragon. Natsu seems excited to witness the dragon inside the guild.
The episode reveals the story behind the 100 Year Quest, explaining how nobody could complete it for a hundred years, thereby naming it so. Even Fairy Tail’s strongest member, Gildarts, could not complete the mission.
Natsu questions the nature of the quest from Gildarts. Gildarts tells Natsu he has to see the quest for himself because he cannot reveal information about it. Moreover, Gildarts asks him to taste despair after he fails to complete the mission. However, Natsu seems confident about completing the mission as, unlike Gildarts, he will be going on the quest with his friends.
Elefseria introduces himself to Natsu and co.
Natsu and co. arrive at Magia Dragon and are confronted by a huge dragon who introduces himself as Elefseria, the Law Dragon. However, Natsu figures out that he is a human, compelling Elefseria to show his real form.
The wizard reveals he is the first master of Magia Dragon and the father of Wizard Guilds, having lived for over a hundred years. He explains he is like Acnologia, who could not help but turn into a dragon due to dragon slayer magic.

Elefseria explains the 100 Years Quest
Elefseria informs the group that nobody has returned from the 100 Years Quest except Gildarts, who suffered severe damage. Elsewhere, Gajeel is alarmed by Touka mentioning Briar from Avatar and decides to investigate the matter.
Natsu’s team confidently signs the confidentiality contract, after which Elefseria explains the 100 Years Quest. The quest requirement is to seal Guiltina’s Five Dragon Gods, which are as strong as Acnologia. Upon hearing that Natsu defeated Acnologia, Elefseria declares the team as his last hope to seal the formidable Dragon Gods.
Soon, the team arrives at the Valeria region in Southern Guiltina, where they encounter jellyfish-like creatures. They try to enter the heroes’ bodies to invade them, but Wendy eliminates them using Sky Dragon’s Roar. However, Natsu ingests one creature while Lucy’s mouth gets numb.
Natsu and his friends arrive at Ermina to confront the Water Dragon God
The episode reveals that Elefseria is unaware of the Dragon Gods’ locations, except he knows where the Water Dragon God, Mercophobia, resides. He advises the party to head to Ermina, where Mercophobia used to be worshiped.
Finally, Elefseria reveals that the reward for completing the 100 Years Quest will be to fulfill one wish they ask for. This leaves the party baffled but they decide to complete the mission before overthinking the reward.
The episode ends with Gajeel and Lily investigating Touka while Natsu’s party arrives at Ermina, only to be witnessed by the Dragon God.
